Welcome to the forum rcoopers,

The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each of the model tech sections is a good place to start for info on regular issues. If you don't find the answers you're looking for, post a question in the appropriate tech section.

You may also like to visit the US Mid Atlantic Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/m...a-dc-de-wv-65/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the search for your Jaguar and the forum.

Graham

97 VDP (in US) was the last of the X300 with an 4.0L in-line 6. Its arguably one of the best engines Jag built - in recent times anyway. I own a 2001 XJR but my aunt has a 97 XJ6. Aside from minor cosmetic things, the only major issue she had was transmission saying good by at 78k miles. I always recommend spending a few $$ on a pre purchase inspection by a jaguar specialist. Look for service records, number of owners - having too many is a concern. Check for previous body work, repair. You can get more info by going over to the X300 section on the forum. If the car checks out and the price is right I would suggest getting it. Eventhough I drive a V8, I have a special place in my heart for the in-line 6.
