Hello from Ireland
Hi there,
Have just bought a 1997 XK8 coupé in BRG. Hope I'm not embarrassing you guys with brand new F-Types. Considered an XJ6/8/12/R but found an XK8 that fit the bill.
Moving up from an MX5, also BRG. Might get a straight through exhaust but am not really planning on doing much to this very nicely kept original car.

Welcome to the forum JasonMFW,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. You'll find many more XK8 owners than F-Type owners here. It's still a very popular model.
Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK Region forum by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in the UK and Eire.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham

Hello, Jason,
Ya know what, if the guys with "brand new F-types" are embarrassed that's THEIR problem.
Most of us drive 'experienced' cars.
Welcome from ElinorB.

Hello Cory ... and greetings from all Jaguar enthusiasts in Australia.
Great advice from Graham [GGG] and [Sklimii] to ease your navigation around Jaguar Forums.
No regrets about any of the Jaguar models any of us currently own ... show me a Jag enthusiast who would refuse one! But, big BUT ... sometimes we shed buckets of blood, sweat and copious tears over the ones we let escape. Just hope they are still out there and prowling around.
All that remains is to see you dive in ... and enjoy,
Ken

Thank you all for the welcome. Much appreciated.
I'm really looking forward to picking the car up this week. The test drive was superb. My only worry is the timing chain…*still, it has a full service history which I'll go over with a fine tooth comb.
It'll be quite a change for me. My current car is an MX5 and my previous one was an MG Midget (best car ever made, despite being an uncomfortable rotbox that leaked and thus smelled of wet dog), so this will be the largest car I've ever owned. In fact, I've never owned a tiptop car before. The straws that broke the camel's back were the state of the roads in post financial crash Dublin (dreadful potholes, making the MX5's concrete suspension a pain) and having to leave the doors open on the MX5 because people kept slashing the roof to get in. As a result it'd be rooted through by opportunist thieves a couple of times a week…*and I live in a nice part of town! The Jag's hard roof, alarm and immobiliser should take a weight off my mind. And if that doesn't work I'll connect the damn thing to the mains!
Just wondering about one thing: it's been a while since I drove an automatic. Does anyone have any misgivings about autos in general?
