Default Hello from Liechtenstein

Hi all,

I have been lurking on this forum for quite a while now, before finally finding and buying a black XKR 4.2 MY 2003 with 95k miles.

I'm a 34-year old software engineer, I know a few things about cars and know how to handle a wrench. From what I've read about XK's, it looks like I will need to buy myself some more tools and make the car a bit of a hobby. Still browsing around for an independent shop around Austria/Vorarlberg or Rhine Valley region, for anything that might and will occur.

Best of greetings,

Martin

Welcome to the forum!

No idea about any garage close to you, but with forum help and some tools you will get a long way for sure.

Hi Martin,

Welcome to the forum.

I have a guy local to me, he's worked on my cars, his workshop looks like a museum, can't move for all the E-Types, XK-150's and other exotica! But unfortunately not that close to you, we're about a 1-3/4 hour drive from Vaduz.

Grüss,
Cambo.

With workshops distance is of course important... I'm hoping to find an independent workshop in Vorarlberg, could get a lot cheaper. The prices across the border in Austria are just so much lower for anything which involves man-hours.

I haven't lived for more than a year in Liechtenstein. How much do you expect to pay for car servicing in CH/LI? (Hourly rates)

I had a full service on my X-Type last year at the local official Jag dealer, was close to CHF 1000 without anything major needing done.

The local indy was a bit cheaper this year....

Yes, if you can, go over the border. Though it might be cheaper at an hourly rate, you've got to be careful that these guys actually know what they are doing.

Got a horror story from a mate with an S-Type, who was basically robbed by a dealer in Germany...but that's for another day...

Since you're a new arrival in FL, I guess you're German's not that great, if you can get onto the jaguar-forum.de and have a look for word-of-mouth recommendations from the German speakers.

I'm already on that forum, but I'm actually Swedish, not German. Have posted a topic in the "Werkstatt" forum to see if anyone knows an indy shop.
