Default Hello New Jaguar Friends! First time Jag owner

Hello All,
As required here is my intro. Im proud to have obtained a 2005 XKR Coupe in Slate grey with 20" BBS Detroit wheels. red brembos, adaptive cruise, charcoal interior. In the search for a nice coupe I had considered BMW M3, Mercedes CL , Porsche 911 and others. Having owned many cars in my life of several marques , and having lots of mechanical experience I was looking to spend less and accept the work needed to maintain/upgrade either older cars or one with original character flaws.

One of the main reasons for landing on Jaguar was because of all of you ! In my research, poking around the forums and seeing the amount of content , commitment by owners, helpfulness , lack of arguing, absence of foolish modifications, and most of all the general feel and respect of the brand and the specific car, I was considering. While the Jag was clearly the most beautiful of the cars I considered , and a love at the time it came out, but out of my price range, I was willing to consider anything, and always had a love for the E46 series M3 2002-2005. Sadly every one I see and all those offered for sale had been stripped of their factory glory and had tires rubbing the fenders and lights of every color adorning them . The Mercedes CL600 was a love as well but upon review of the lack of forum members attempting their own repairs, amount of expensive issues, and general condition and maintenance history of the ones offered for sale. I really hoped for the right XKR to come up. I had saved searches on all the sites and passed on several and was outbid on several more.

Being old school I cant stand drive by wire throttle. Might sound trivial but its true.

I drove a 2001 XKR and it responded great, so I set out to find a 2001-2002 post Nikasil car, knowing the 4.2 went to full electronic throttle., hopefully of a special color or edition like Silverstone or preferably XKR100 as I preferred a dark color. I had hoped for a black with light interior but I feel like this wont be my only XKR after this first one. Anyway after 3 years of chasing, a 2005 came up for sale only 10 minutes away. I thought I should probably go drive it to see how bad the drive by wire was , so I could put it out of my mind. First off this Coupe was Slate grey which I had not seen in all my searching, with the Jag racing green metallic being rare and having my fancy, so this car was already special. Well upon driving it , response was no issue and with the key forward , engine off and stepping on the gas you could hear the servo motor moving the throttle which is not the case with any other drive by wire car I know. From this I knew I was sending a command to the engine , not a request. With sport mode on , this cat is animal with a velvet wrap, and the appearance is quietly outstanding. During the drive I was apprehensive but turned a corner and there was an XK 120 Fixed head coupe in white passes us. I knew this was a sign. We get back and the owner says " oh now I have to show you the paperwork and history on the car".... it was a binder full! With that I paid the man , called insurance and left with the car, leaving my truck in his driveway to return later to get it.

This car is a testament of love who made this it, the care, the finish, the performance, its history , and the Coventry factory's history .....It makes me more proud than any other car Ive had and if you knew the cars I had... Well I know this, if I pull up to cars and coffee this Jag likely to be noticed, surely to be respected and probably admired by the few who get it.

The help and respect you guys show each other here, and those who are not afraid to wrench on their cars let me know this was the place for me. After two weeks of driving in the car , the engine could need a rebuild every month and I would take that labor of love. This car is so comfotable yet more than a daily driver could need for performance.
Anyway as far as I go this is high watermark moment for me as I have been through so much personally from 2009-2017, when it started to calm down I said I need to get into a nice gentlemans touring coupe like I used to have and this is just amazing to have this $94,500 car in my garage for a fraction.
I have so many questions and so much input to offer. I have joined the North east Jaguar club and welcome all recommendations for a new Jag owner from places to get OEM parts online to which clubs and other forums to join. Sorry for the low res photos(this site needs a tech upgrade) and the door is not dented its just the reflection of a peak of a houe
I thank you for you time !
Marc
