Default Hello from new (to us!) 2000 S-Type owners

Hello everyone!
(side note to admin: I had a problem logging in - I think because I used spaces in my user name - I got in via the welcome email which linked to the various areas. Not sure what to do about it...)

My wife has inherited her mother's 2000 Jaguar S Type. 4.0L 8 cylinder engine, 49000-ish miles. Meticulously maintained, but hasn't had a lot of use the last few years. (battery dates back to 2006, last oil change was 8 months ago, etc...) Getting it checked out before we drive the thousand miles home.

Stumbled in here researching battery issues (before I discovered it's so old...) and now I've got about a thousand tabs open to read!

Welcome Alan.

Admin etc will sort that when the time zones align better.

Nice inheritence, awesome car.

Batteries are the #1 issue with any newer car.

Thanks all! Actually, my mother-in-law is still alive, but can't drive any more so wife is inheriting early. Thanks for the kind words, Elinor!

That's how we got Wart (2001 Ford Windstar)! Husband's mother quit driving so gave him to us. But the van has outlived her.
