Welcome to the forum Vicky,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the S-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

A head gaskets not too bad. I've had a couple done for about $1000. Done a couple myself. While a Jag is a little odd compared to other cars you should be able to find a mechanic smart enough to figure it out. Welcome to the forums from a neighbor.

P. S. I've never had a problem with my cars that have cast iron heads. Well over 200,000 miles and the heads have never been off. I've been thinking about maybe fabbing up some motor mounts and put a 400 CI small block Chevy motor in it if mine bites the dust, Maybe a 4l60E transmission behind it. Would that get me kicked off the forum?
