Default HEY, just joined. 2000 S-type 3.0. TENSIONERS??

New to the forum as i just purchased my first jag. Shes an S-type v6 year 2000. Thing is tho she has an awful upper chain slap on the drivers side.. Im confident i can do the work, however i can not find the v6 upper chain tensioner ANYWHERE. every link i click says V8- 4.0.

Do the v6 and v8 share the same part? that my only concluson. its driving me mad and any advice will be great help.

im sure with love and patience ill be cruising around town with a big smile on my face like the rest of you jag owners!

thanks in advance - Joseph

Welcome to the forum Joseph,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...c-sc-fl-ga-66/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome..

NOPE, nothing related between the 2 engines.

The S Type section will probably have the answers.

Good luck.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Thing is I've already tore through the S-TYPE forums to no avail. Funny thing is I saw a comment mentioning how the replacement ones are also being used in the V8 but I have no real confirmation.

My problem is not the "how to" its the Where the **%&+ do I find the correct part!!???

The timing chain assemblies are VIN-specific. Check with the forum sponsors using the Marketplace drop-down menu.

The Duratec V6 is a very robust engine and has not had the secondary timing chain tensioner issues of the early AJ-V8s.

The AJ-V6 was designed by Jaguar and built by Ford for use in the Lincoln LS. It is a member of the Duratec family of engines.
