Default Hi All

Hi All,
I'm new to Jaguars and am looking for a XJS model. Something affordable to get me started. I need a new hobby after years of flying and riding motorcycles. I have a strong interest in an XJS with a V-12. What got me looking at these cars in the first place was I was curious about looking for a car with a V-12 engine. I love to tinker and the maintenance required doesn't bother me at all. I've always had an admiration for Jaguars, but it was never much more than a passing interest. I googled V-12's and discovered the XJS and found it to be very intriguing.

I have found a car I'm interested in in the San Diego area and would like to find a mechanic who has Jaguar/XJS experience who I could hire to do a pre-purchase inspection in that area. It's about as far away from me as I can get in the continental US, but the asking price and shipping is within my budget. Looking forward to learning more about these cars.
Thanks in advance for any leads, info and advice.
Chap

Welcome to the Forums.

Good choice, but I am biased.

Read ALL the stickies in the XJS Tech Section, and be bloody careful, as a neglected (hard to pick sometimes) car will drain your $$ in a heartbeat.

Good luck.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the warm welcome. A couple of cars have my interest, both around 50,000 miles. One is local, and the other couldn't be farther away- San Diego. The local one is a 1985 coupe, pictures aren't that great. Hoping to go look at it this weekend. This is the local one. The dealer has good reviews, and I'm sure will be my go to guys as they are close enough, about 30 minutes.

This is the one in San Diego. From the photos alone, I like this one better. 1990 coupe. Seems cleaner, inside and out. Made some calls about getting an inspection done and spoke with the seller. Can't seem to get any reviews about him or his business, Motorcarcompany.com. I did find a place nearby, https://www.griffinsautorepair.com/ that could do a pre purchase inspection, while they seemed friendly and accommodating, I'm not sure he understood the depth of inspection I would like to get.

Purchasing a car that far away isn't something I would normally consider, but I haven't seen many this color and I like it. Mods, if this isn't the proper place for this post please feel free to move it.

Thanks, Chap

The photo of the BRG one definitely does it no favours but it still looks OK. The panel gaps on the California one look odd to me and the line of the bottom of the door appears to bulge out from midway towards the rear.

Post again in XJS forum for members with the same model to have a look.
