Hello good people:
I just joined this forum as I am about to go look at a 2004 XK8 convertible with 51,600 miles. I seek advice on what to focus on. Pics look good but no shots of the engine or belly. Will ask for the VIN for title search. Here is the text of the ad:
Gorgeous Jag XK8 convertible with low mileage and a clean title! I purchased this car in 2016 from a close family friend who had owned since 2008. It has been such a fun car to own and drive. The car is in immaculate shape inside and out with few defects. The following items have been addressed in the past 15k miles- new tires, new battery, new rear shocks, new coolant housing, regular oil changes/tire rotations. Features of the vehicle include power top, Alpine sound system (sounds great!), leather, HID headlights and more. This car has been a dream of mine and I am sad to see it go, but our family needs a vehicle with a bigger back seat.
Motive: A driver making an illegal turn totalled my pristine (2nd place national show) 63 Lincoln and insurance paid me double what this XK8 would cost up front. So I'm wondering how much to budget to get a XK8 into pristine condition. What is a fair price for 2004? My daily driver is an 87 Mercedes 560SL so I have no fear of toddler back seats or high cost convertibles. I have a four post lift and full sets of tools. My sequence is to make it stop, make it go, make it show. Thanks in advance for any insights you may have. -K
