Default Hi from the Black Forest

Hi everyone I am Richard and have just got a 2006 S-Type 2.7 Diesel.

Wasn't a planned buy but the owner was desperate to get shut of it as it has faults, and he'd got sick of throwing money at it, and his local garages wouldn't touch it so he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

I'm an extremely enthusiastic amateur mechanic with, even if I say so myself, a pretty good setup and the tools and equipment to do most tasks and am also used to completely stripping and rebuilding cars so I figured I'd give it a go. Plus as a UK national living in the Black Forest in Germany I felt somewhat honour bound to try to rescue the poor thing ;0)

I usually work on older cars but actually work in software for a large auto manufacturer, so figured it would also be a good opportunity to get to work on something more modern than usual.

Hello, Richard,
Congratulations on your "new" Jaguar!
I had to laugh about 2006 being "Modern."
All a matter of perspective, I suppose.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Haha, yes true. I never thought, it's modern by my standard and certainly the fanciest car I've ever owned. Cant wait to get her running properly
