Hi Guys, new member and the hunt starts NOW!
Hi Guys,
I just want to say Hi, I have been lusting over a 2001-2005 XK8/XKR thank's to Fifth Gear Cheap alternative to an Aston Martin Db8
...the more I look at her and do some research on it ....the more confident I am that this would be my choice..... I am hoping to spend somewhere 12K- 13K...I have been reading a lot here lately also researching the Nikasil and the tensioner issue plagueing 2003 and older model.
I am 36 have been driving Saabs for 10 years so I am no stranger to high maintenance missus, I am used to treating my car right hoping that she doesn't bite back.
I am somewhat a hobbist mechanic, If I have a good instruction and can muster up the nerve, I usually can do it...but of course nothing like replacing the tensioner...oh no sir!!
I am looking forward to be more involved with this forum and thank you for keeping the forum active.
That's how I feel at Saabcentral.com the good enthusiats who just want to help.
Any advice for my hunt for my 3rd car would be much appreciated...anything that can help me watch out for "the girl that can bite".

Welcome Zidjan,
you started in the right place, read the stickies in the XK8/XKR section. Go in with your eyes wide open and you should be able to find and excellent car within your price range. Swapping secondary tensioners is not a big deal and must be done on all 4.0 engines regardless of mileage, lots of help and instruction available right here. The fact that you signed up for the forum means it's too late for you, you have the bug. Good luck with the search and post pictures when you can.
