Default Hi Milage

Hi,

Really like the forum. Lots of genuine advice.

I bought my first Jag last month. 2003 3.0 Auto S Type. It's quite high mileage I guess for a petrol - 185k. But I couldn't be happier. I've owned new cars prior to this, but nothing as smooth a drive. The handling is superb. Mile to Gallon isn't bad either on long runs. Misses has also taken a liking to it, something I may end up regretting.

It has a few problems, which shouldn't take much effort to fix. The drivers side window keeps getting stuck. I still haven't figured out how to get into the door to lubricate the runners.

Bonnet cable snapped about a week ago, so I have had to detach the second cable and locking mechanism (if that's the correct terminology). This was a lot easier than I thought, after looking through old posts. Just removed the plastic trim underneath the radiator. Located the faulty cable and kept pulling until the bonnet popped.

The air con doesn't work either. I was told I need an auto electrician to reset it, as a new unit has already been installed. Is there anything I can do myself?

I would be interested what mileage these cars are able to run to.

Nice to hear from anyone. Great forum.

Tony

Welcome to the forum Tony,

High miles but nowhere near the highest here. Regular servicing and maintenance throughout it's history is more important.

Sounds like you've already found your way to the tech section but if not, follow this link S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the S-Type section for help, advice and information.

You can also visit the UK Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-68/ to find other members in this country.

Enjoy the forum.
