Default Hi from new member

Hi to all the Jaguar enthusiasts in the US & congratulations on an amazing site & forum.

I'm a Jaguar owner/enthusiast from the UK with a 07 XJ 2.7TDVI Sov' & a S Type 3.0L SE 04. Although I've always maintained & repaired my own jaguars over the years, I'm at a loss when it comes to the newer models.

Nothing is straight forward anymore & minor faults can fool the cars EMU. Jaguar main dealers are £100 per hour & there are no jaguar specialist garages (i'm in the middle of no where) near me.

The kind help I've had from UK forum members in the past has saved a small fortune in fault diagnosis.

The US forum was recommended by a senior UK forum member after I posted a problem ("Gearbox Fault" message) with my S Type. I'd be happy to help any US Jaguar owners if I can in anyway.

Before I forget "Sorry" for the build quality of anf XJ or XJS's from the 70's or early 80's, it was a bleak time under BL.

Thank you in advance & happy motoring, John

Smile Thank you for the warm welcome

Hi, thank you for for the warm welcome it is really appreciated.

I'm in a small village in lanarkshire (in bred weirdos here) but will be moving back to my home city (once my wife is well enough, she had a stroke last year) of Sheffield in Yorkshire.

Can't come soon enough as some moron has scratched my XJ to the metal all along one side last night, is soul destroying. So the S Type issue will have to be resolved while the XJ is sorted.

If its any help there have been a lot of issues with the DPF on the 2.7TDVI engines if you only make short journeys. hey are prone to fouling up (within a couple of weeks) & re charging only works a few times.

If left unchecked diesel gets in the engine oil & will trigger the service due warning if its not resolved. If anyone is needing parts for vintage jags I have a few friends with e types, MK2's etc who may have that elusive little part needed, if they have it spare they'd happily help out another enthusiast.

I've had XJ's for 20 years (straight 6 & V12's) & can offer help with those, it's just the new ones with sensors on everything that I'm not confident with.

I don't know the cost of Jaguar parts in the US compared to the UK, but if they are cheaper here it's no trouble to help anyone source them.

I'm not in the motor/parts trade, I just don't like to see anyone overpaying for no reason.

Thanks again, its been a refreshing change to have chatted with such friendly people.
