Default Hi from newbie in luton UK

Hi all, I am a new Jag owner , wanted one for ages. Picked up a metalic blue xk8 1997 last month, and got to work fixing the known issues, thermostat tower to ali, heater feed and return pipes, power steering cooler leak, headlining and cupholder repair. enjoyed every minute of the tinkering around especially the power steering fix where I brought some joiners and a small length of power steering grade pipe for £5 (around $8) at my local hydraulic tubing specialist (Hose and tube Supplies) and spliced them in. Total time including a total cleanup & pressure test and fill was 3 hours.

Got one more fix to do but unsure how to proceed. Get engine fault and Poor performance when i back off the throttle when driving (coasting) and pulled codes P1226 and P1227. It appears intermittent and usually after some miles so i guess when at operating temp. I think throttle body mech guard and due for a change of throttle body, but today at standstill I also got Stability Control fail.
Any thoughts, throttle body or ECM? Ta kev

A very warm welcome Kev.

Check your battery voltage after about 1 hour of standing still. Should be 12.1-12.4V, anything less, charge it overnight and then repeat. Should also be 14.1v when engine is running.

Apart from that, enjoy the car and the forum,

Thanks Jim, Voltages are standstill 12.35v and 14.35v when running. Error messages gone now when started(left overnight) but I reckon they will appear again after 5-10 minute of town driving

Hello, Kev,
Someone in the XK8 section will probably be able to help you with these problems.
Welcome from ElinorB.
