Default HI, Yup, I'm a NEWBY (as U can tell}

Name is Lenny--nickname "RABBIT"
I'm live in Rice, MN and I'll be 69 this coming year. In my years I've owned many American classic's, "69 BOSS 429 to "67 Wildcat convert, but, Who Cares? Right!
Well, I've had many other cars, including some Mercedes, V-dub's, etc. All of a sudden, when I was 66 years on this earth, REALITY hit me hard--I've NEVER OWNED A JAG!!.
Which was so ironic, because it was the one car tht I WANTED since I was 25 (maybe price at tht time was a deciding factor in my life). But then cruising thru craigslist I spotted
a 1986 XJ6, and I was glued to IT. Pearl White paint, CA car, supposedly had some engine prob---owner LIED, had tranny prob--but I bought it.
Let me explain why I bought a 4-door sedan. I have a '84 380SL--vnice--but I'm disabled now and I can't get in and out of it w.o much adue! Anyhow, the '86 XJ6 didn't have a
small engine prob, it had a bad tranny. I got lucky, I found one 45 miles away w/115K on it for $135-(come to find out it's primary a GM product). Jag dealers wanted $900-$1500.
Tranny went in, motor tuned up and I loved it. (car had only 158K on it). Drove it everywhere--VGOOD everyday driver even. Cheap as a HONDA to fix, so tht was a plus.
So, to finish my story off, I spotted a 98 XJ8L on line 5 miles away from me. (I was elated, I had 4 Ford BOSS'S) and this 98 XJ8L had a FORD motor.
It sits in my garage now--BEST CAR I EVER BOUGHT--for driving. But to give credit where credit is DUE, my 429 was faster and handled like a dream, so did my 302's.
If I bored ya, I apologize, but instructions were to tell ya who I was. Hope I did OK!

THANX for taking time to read this introduction.
Later---Lenny

Welcome to the forums Lenny,

Please use line breaks. A single block of text is hard enough to read on a PC but very difficult for members who use their smartphones for forum access.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj40-xj81-25/ to the XJ40 forum for help, advice and information on your XJ6 and this https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ one to the X308 for the XJ8L. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

I've added vehicle details to your forum Signature to help others to give relevant advice. If you want to amend these, go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also use the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
