Thumbs up I'm taking on a new Hobby!!

For the past week, i have been checking post & threads to view tips & tricks with an array of viable info in regards to a "new to me " 2001 Jaguar XJ8 VDP. Obviously so many threads are not specific too one particular model, but the mechanic's of any model are generalized in a categorical input which makes it interesting to find out how one can tackle certain issues. So it's with great pleasure to thank all who take the time to direct me "us" with your expertise.

The 01 XJ8 i purchased recently, is beyond a doubt in pristine condition in & out, however undercarriage did not get the same wax treatment. the car has 135000 km.
So far i replaced 1 upper ball joint, carrier bearings & races in right rear hub. At first, I thought it was a wheel bearing when i could teeter totter the wheel back & forth .
At least i managed to save it's sleeve & bolt to
re-assemble with timken bearings including new races only, from another source than our local dealer. I have now been able to test drive but I know there is more to do, in order to bring up to par. Thank you, i'm glad to be enlisted. Rick

Good Morning, Rick,
It's not surprising that 135 000 miles shows this sort of wear. But you seem to be well able to handle it. Congratulations!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thank You Eli, I have to admit, i wrenched most of my life, but this car has restored enthusiasm in the quest for success !! I have never touched a Jag before last week where i have visualized there is more challenges under this car than anything i have worked on in the past! So glad to own a hoist. lol

Welcome to the forum Rick,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I see from your other posts you've managed to find almost every other model forum than the one for your own model.

Follow this link XJ XJ8 / XJR ( X308 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
