Intro from Trackguy
Well it has only been 42 years ago that I owned a Jaguar. It was a 1964 Jaguar XKE 3.8 Silver/Black. Wow was it a lot of fun. For a 17 year old it was a lot, $1000. My dad wouldn't let me keep it in the garage so every time it rained the water collected in between the twin overhead cams and submerged the spark plugs. But that louvered cowling was pretty cool. I can remember to this day taking my first date to dinner in the car. After a fairly spirited drive to the restaurant (she was wearing a mini skirt) the transmission tunnel got fairly warm. But dinner was great and oh what that car was. Now looking at the new F Type Coupe R. It has been way too long. Phil

Welcome Phil ... and greetings from fellow enthusiasts in Australia.
The F-Type R is a great reward for someone who has managed to stay away from Jaguars since that E-Type experience of 42 years ago. We have just passed on our Series1 4.2L E-Type after owning and loving it for some 35 years. I therefore know first hand why you wax lyrical over the styling and driving experience. I commend your for noticing the heat from the trans tunnel ... but also your distraction by the miniskirt!
All that remains now is for you to find your new cat ... then dive in and enjoy!
Best wishes,
Ken

Thank you Ken it is nice to see such a diversified group from all over the world. Congrats on your 35 year experience with the 4.2L. I can still remember to this day after that many years - having to replace plug wires, buying 6 koni shocks, having to true the real spoke wheels etc etc. But oh what fun it was. Thanks again, Phil
Thank you Clarke. I just love the XJ6. I had buddy from Oregon that had one. A real classic. Each time I see one it brings to mind the beautiful leather interiors that Jaguar built a reputation for. All the best, Phil
