Introducing myself
Hello:
My name is Mike and I recently inherited my uncles 2000 XK8 convertible. Overall the cat is in good shape, no idiot lights or anything like that. Since I'm new to Jaguar, I'll be asking a lot of questions. Pictures will be posted soon, after I clean it up (been sitting for a while and is dusty).

Hello, Mike,
Congratulations on your new XK8 convertible, but I'm sorry for how you got it.
Almost everyone is new to Jaguar at some point, but the experienced members on our XK8 section will be glad to help.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Joining to learn what I can from the forum on Jag sports cars...two in particular are the F-type and the XKR. Currently looking to purchase a 2012 XKR with 30k miles; this as a breakin period to see how much maintenance I can do on these myself and perhaps finding the better servicing shop, be it at the dealer. Not sure if there are any 'show stoppers' to owning a 2012 XKR, like dealers won't work on older cars or no where to find parts...
The plan would be to get 200k miles out of the XKR...maybe put 5-8k a year on it...
Lots of questions...
Dad had a '61 Austin Healy Bug Eyed Sprite we drove and worked on.
Currently maintaining a '73 Volvo 145 (second owner/odometer broke at 149k) and a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer with 209k (original owner/engine/transmission)
