Default Which Jag?

Hi everyone,

Just signed up as I am about to become a Jag owner for the first time. My research has helped me narrow down the field to the XJ series from 2004 to 2008. '04s seem to have the largest selection, but don't have the extended wheelbase (which may not be a deal breaker) and I haven't completely ruled out the S-Type. Although, at 6'2" and 225 lbs, the S-Type is a bit cramped inside.

I live in the southern California area and am looking to buy within the next 6 months. Any suggestions on what to avoid?

thanks,
Mike

Welcome to the forum Mike,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Both are good cars and each has a loyal following on the forum. The long wheelbase version of the X350 will make little difference to your driving comfort as the extra length is used to increase legroom for rear seat passengers.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-x350-x358-xj6-xj8-xjr-28/ to the X350 forum and this one S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

With any Jaguar, service history is crucial. When assessing a potential purchase, question any gaps in the history very closely.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the search for your Jaguar and enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome! Newer S-Types (05-08) are probably better mechanically than the earlier models.

Hey Tommy, always nice to be welcomed.

You know, I was leaning towards the '03 & '04s because of the old style taillight and the new dash lay-out, along with a new V8 and 6 speed trans. But after driving an '05, it just seems like a different ride than the '03-04 version. I was impressed.
