Default A Jag in the garage again

It's been 28 years since my 64 3.4 S-type was sold. Then came a series of VWs and Volvos. Time to find a Jag again. But which one? Classic or modern? 2 doors or 4? A late night Craigslist look led to a 45 minute phone conversation and a 2 hour road trip. 76,000 miles on a 87 series 3 XJ6. The sound of the XK engine at idol, the smell of the wool and leather interior. I gave him his asking price. After a wonderful 120 mile trip home, I wonder why I waited so long. The Journey begins again.

Congrats on the purchase! I had to wait almost 40 years between my XK-150 and my XK8, so don't feel too badly about waiting "only" 28 years. I agree; the sound of the Jaguar L6 is among the best engine sounds anywhere. My V8 cannot compare. I love the XK8 but still miss that XK-150.

Congratulations on your 'new' Series3!
In my own Personal opinion, the Series Jaguars are the Prettiest cars on the road even after all these decades. But I freely admit my bias.

I'll look for you over in our playroom where Graham has directed you.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
