Hi all,

I'm an Irishman living in Abu dhabi and I've just taken my first tentative steps into the daunting world of jaguar ownership with a sky blue 2004 3lt s-type with 140km on it and in good enough shape ( well to my uninformed eyes, touchwood ,). Main reason for buying it is probably similar to that many expats in the gulf ....buying a motor you're never realistically be able to afford at home !

It's a joy to drive and looking forward to a fun relationship with this motor ( god, my wfe will be getting jealous now!)

Great too see such a strong community here.

Any advice for first time buyers of old jags?

Welcome to the forum Gareth,

Congratulations on the S-Type.

The best place to start is finding out what to look for and known weaknesses. Follow this link S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the S-Type section for help, advice. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top has much useful information.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Welcome to the forum.

If you think that 2004 is old, then my XJ40 must be positively decrepit.

Good to have you with us.
