Hi everybody. Firstly, please accept my gratitude for all the advice and help I've gotten from this forum over the last several months while I've been lurking here. I've always admired Jags for their grace, elegance, and relative rarity, and I finally had the chance to buy one of my dream cars last summer - a low-mileage XK8 convertible. It is a '98, so it has it's share of quirks, but it's positively mood-altering when I get behind the wheel, which is fairly often. As gorgeous as it is, I bought it to drive it, and I've taken it from 29k miles to 37k in the last eight months, which includes a trouble-free cruise from NC to FL and back.

I've got some questions for you guys, so I hope you'll put up with me until I can start contributing meaningfully on my own. I'm nobody's definiton of a mechanic, but I am pretty handy and I've replaced alternators, starters, carbs, steering columns, etc. on other vehicles, though never on a Jag, mine or otherwise.

Anyway, happy motoring and thanks again!

Ryan

Welcome Ryan. Always nice to have another XK-series owner in the fold.

Welcome aboard. I completely agree with the feeling of getting behind the wheel of these cars!

Welcome Ryan, In the past I've owned a bunch of muscle cars(all sold now) and still I would rather drive my XK-8. Nothing like a Jag

Ryan, you and I share about the same 'level' of mechanical aptitude. You'll be able to handle much on your own.

Welcome again from me!

Thank you for your comments, h2oboy. It's good to have some reassurance from someone who's "been there and done that," so to speak. And thanks to everyone else for the warm welcome!
