Lurker coming out of the shadows: CT USA
Good morning!
I have been using this forum for information over the past year and have found it very helpful. Figure I might as well make a formal introduction and give thanks to all the posters who have left great nuggets of info. Here is the info on my car:
2004 X-type 2.5 5-speed manual
base model, which I prefer as there is less to go wrong, other than the fact that it is under powered
Purchased from Conicelli Honda in PA with 59,000 odo last year for $5,900
Florida car, no rust. Carfax showed the transmission was replaced between 10,000 and 15,000 miles, no explanation why of course
I watched the market for a good one for a while and this car has been a great daily driver so far. Picture below, sorry for the quality but it's the only one I have on me.
Truth is I know nothing about Jaguars and had no intention of buying one (I heard nothing but horror stories about electrical problems and such) but my buddy convinced me it was really a Ford in a shiny wrapper, cheap, and they made them with manual trannys. So long story short, I went looking for a Camry and came back with a Jag. Again, so far I really dig this car. Most of my automotive knowledge is from working on domestics, here is my stable:
1955 Chevy Bel-air Sport coupe: Currently doing restoration (327 fresh rebuild, 3-speed)
1988 Chevy Cavalier Z-24 Conv. This is my sleeper, love it. Swapped it from auto to manual, engine swap to the McLaren 3.1 turbo (from an '89 TGP). Thing was a real PIA to put together, but I just couldn't part with my first car
Thanks again for all who have posted helpful info, I hope that I can positively contribute as well!

Hello, Whitney, and congratulations on your 'new' X-type.
Yes, Ford owned Jaguar-Land Rover from about 1998 until 2007, I think it was (according to Wikipedia) when TATA of India bought the company, so cars made for those 19 years are known by some as Forduars. In fact, the Vast majority of Jaguars and Land Rovers on the road today were built by Ford.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Whitney,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
It sounds like you've already found your way to the X-Type tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
Enjoy the forums.
