Hi,

just acquired a 1966 Series 1 OTS. the car was completely disassembled and stored 20 or so years ago, taken apart for paint but was a running, driving car. While the parts were packed very well for storage, they were not labelled well for re-assembly. Same ole story. the previous owner bught the car in 1970. I bought this with a partner with plans to turn it over. I would like to re-assemble it to include suspension, body panels, steering, long block and so on in preparation for the next owner. Of course we want to leave it as unmolested as possible, with the idea the next owner will remove the parts we are re-assembling for their own restoration, but that said I would like to use the correct bolts in the correct places. We have a service manual but not a parts manual. I have reviewed some restoration parts vendor parts catalogs on line that are very well detailed so that would be enough to do a good part inventory and list. What else should we be aware of or pay special interest in for the best care of this beautiful classic car?

WOW, have You got a classic!
Yes, correct bolts would be a good idea, especially if they're supposed to be Whitworths.

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I know you've already found your way to the E-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
I replied to your post there with a link to download the E-Type Parts and Service Manuals.

Your Posts count shows 5. I can see 5 posts from you:

Can you not see all 5 or have you made 2 more than that?

no, I posted two times in answer of the fastener thread thanking you for the link to the cd which worked. they both said "post will not be shown until a moderator reviewed it", or something to that effect, but then they never were added. I will try again, Ive gone through the bag o bolts and am starting to try to match things up. There are a lot of nuts with the end of the bolt still inthem so I assume the locknuts did not wish to unlock and the bolts are broken. This will make matching the bolts to their original location tuff. Also the boxes had more than a few brackets. I hope to post pics for people to ID the brackets and such.

LutzE post count should be correct now - found the 2 posts that required moderator approval - not sure why - but have approved them and forwarded to IB for review.
