Default many warning lights, safe to drive?

This morning I started the car X Type Estate 2006 and expected to see the engine warning light as we are having an EGR sensor valve fitted later this week, anyway whilst driving the speedometer was not working the clock face just showed a few lines, the traction light and abs warning light on the dial was showing, and the red brake light which is under the speedometer not in the circular area with all the other warning lights was on, I drove for about 35 mins then stopped, the car stalled and when I started it the lights disappeared, the performance is not good, but that I guess is to be expected with the EGR.
So just wanting to know if this is a common problem?

Welcome to the forum sueneric,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Whenever the CEL and /or other warnings illuminate, the first thing to do is have the codes read as the initial step in troubleshooting. You already know you have an EGR issue which would account for the CEL. The other lights could be the result of a discharged or failing battery. The fact they went out on a restart after running for a while, giving the battery time to charge, makes this high on the possible causes list.

Follow this link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Not a problem.

I've merged your two Intro threads together.
