Default Michael From Melbourne Australia

I've finally joined the ranks of "Jag Owner". When I was growing up I remember my Father having a friend who owned Three 70's model Jags. One for him self and his wife and one for spare parts. I've loved them ever since and recall the wow factor when I first looked at the polished wooden trim and the fold down rear picnic tables. I've Just purchased a 1995 XJ6 (x300) 3.2lt. Looking at the log books I'm the third owner. I have already purchased replacement air vents for the dash and rear seat, also a drivers side switch pack which has a broken mirror control button. The only three things I could see that were in need of repair.
In my over excitement with my new cat I have also ordered a timing advance Bracket as mentioned in this forum, to achieve better fuel economy and a little more HP. Finally in the spirit of good taste I have also promised myself I will avoid any temptation to start adding Chrome wheel arch, door handle and mirror covering.Michael From Melbourne Australia-image_16.jpeg

Hello, Michael,
What a beautiful car! Kudos for resisting the temptation to 'tart it up.' However, all that other stuff is probably a good idea.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Default Welcome to Jaguar Forums

Warm welcome Michael ... and greetings from all your similarly afflicted Jaguar enthusiasts next door in NSW&ACT. Great tips and useful links from [Cambo351] and others which I endorse ... especially advice to place your car's year/model/engine/variant into your signature as a permanent feature of all your future posts, thus ensuring any advice you receive is relevant and accurate.

Looks like you have acquired a sweet ride Mikey ... it's a great looking Cat and I soooo agree that with body presentation as good as this appears, then added chrome tends to spoil the effect. Love that colour too.

Please jump over to the VIC regional section, say "hello" to your fellow members there (they're a friendly bunch) and you will pick up on some great local advice ... ie the thread currently being assembled by [Yarpos] on local (not just Melbourne) Jaguar service shops and suppliers.
So ... best wishes Michael. Dive in and enjoy,
Ken
