My first Jaguar, a 1953 XK 120 Fixed Head Coupe
Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself.
I just purchased my first Jaguar. I have always admired the 120s and XKEs since college, and when I had my Austin Healy Sprite I would always see them at the dealership when I was picking up parts.
Just so happened that a "for sale" ad came up on the AACA forum for a XK 120 where I usually hang out. It was beautiful in pictures and at a good price so I said, "why not". So my bride and I jumped into the car and headed to Muncie, IN from Marshall, VA to see it. It was even better than the pictures and on the way home the next day we made an offer, and it was accepted. So the 1300 mile trip was well worth it.
On Wednesday we head back to Municie to pick her up. We have an enclosed trailer so she will be protected on the way home. Her chassis number is S680557. It has about 26,000 miles on the odometer and is sporting her original color of light green in a recent repaint. The engine bay and undercarriage are original. The interior was redone about twelve years ago in its original red leather. It still looks very good.
Here are a few pics.
Look forward to being a participant on this forum.

Here are a few more pics. The car has been in a couple of collections over the past couple of dozen years. The car was bought at an RM auction in 2004 as a un-restored original (but with new interior) by the previous owner. He did extensive work to bring it back to mechanical reliability and new exterior paint. He had it in his collection in Carmel, IN. He has over 40 cars and was thinning the herd so to speak. The car has all of its matching parts.
