Default N M post - 2010 XFR - England - greetings

Good day everyone.

I'm not sure if there is an alternative reference to my car.

Its a 5.0 SC v8 2010 XFR. Is there a model number that refers to my car that Im not aware of?

Only just bought it as a present to myself, I can see this source of wisdom becoming more familiar to me 🙏

Thank you in advance

John

Welcome to the forums John,

Good to have you with us. The lesser vehicles in the photo merely emphasise the beauty of the Jaguar.

The factory model code for your Jaguar is X250 produced from 2007 - 2015. The 'R' indicates it is supercharged and all the 5.0 engines are v8.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xf-xfr-x250-44/ to the X250 forum for help, advice and information. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

John,
Help yourself from my Dropbox to two vital PDFs for a 2010 XFR:
1. The 2010/2011 XFR Workshop Manual: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bet26xniua...kshop.pdf?dl=0
2. The Technical Training pdf for the AJ133: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8y4iax9hm2...%20V8.pdf?dl=0
Still miss my 2010 XFR!

Thank you for that.

Love the modifications you've done to your F-Type

Have you played around with your exhaust?

Funny you should say that, I have modified the exhaust on every car I have ever owned EXCEPT the F-Type!
I find it to be damn near perfect out of the box, especially with the switchable active exhaust that I can switch from loud to relatively quiet and vice versa at the push of a button.
Also the engine and intake mods (pulley/tune/filters) have released large gobs of supercharger whine which nicely compliment the exhaust noise, and the cherry on the cake is disabling the annoying "muddy noise generator" Symposer.

I've driven a couple of cars with active exhausts and wish I had one on mine, they are fantastic aren't they.
Must be a great feeling to be 100% satisfied with it, top notch.
Mine is completely standard and untouched, a very quiet and refined ride, I would love a 'go louder' button though.

You already have a "go louder" button, your right foot!
The XFR exhaust has a valve in each rear muffler that opens when the exhaust gas pressure reaches a certain level which makes it a virtual "straight through" exhaust when the valves are open and a fair bit louder than when the valves are closed.
It's purely mechanical though with zero electronic control so it's not switchable.
Some XFR owners, in search of more exhaust noise without spending a packet on new mufflers, have simply had an exhaust shop cut out those valves and weld cover plates over the holes, so the exhaust is in loud mode all the time. The trouble with that solution is you no longer have a quiet mode!

Yes I fully appreciate the 'right foot engaged loud mode', I was thinking over-run [de-cated perhaps?] flashes of flames out the rear end. I have looked into the passive muffler valve and think it's an engenius design, refined until you want to perform then it growls to really hammer home the muscle car sensation.
