Default Need help please! 2010 XK. Replaced battery

Hello all,
Recently my battery died. Bought a new one and a friend / mechanic installed it for me.
We followed the battery connect procedure, car started right away and everything was fine.
Only thing I didn't do was drive it for a few miles, which I don't know why I didn't.
After a while turned the car off, and about an hour later wanted to lock it up but did not start again.
Lights go on, everything seems normal, but when pressing the brake it stays high and when you press
the start button dash lights turn off. No crank or any noise.
Any suggestions? thoughts?
Thank you in advance.

Welcome. These forums are a great resource for Jaguar owners! The XKR is a fabulous car!
You should address this problem in the x150 forum. Graham (GGG) will probably move your post.
Sounds like the battery was not fully charged when installed which is common on batteries sitting on the shelf for who knows how long. Recommend you connect a charger at least overnight and see how things are then.
A fully charged battery should be at least 12.6 VDC when measured with a volt meter. My recently replaced battery measured 12.3 volts off the shelf and 13.1 after a night on my charger. Battery problems are the most common issue on x150s.

Hello,
So many modern cars are SO finicky about the battery!
If you haven't already found your way there, someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where you can get help for that.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the Forums.

The Members in the XK/XKR (X150) Tech Section will know the procedure.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums oo zone,

Good to have you with us.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. That is the place to ask your battery question. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thank you ALL for your help and advice.
Put the battery on a battery tender, hopefully that's the only issue.
Will keep you posted. Any other thoughts or ideas are always welcomed.

For future reference, when you buy a new 'charged' battery, charge it overnight BEFORE fitting. The tender should get you out of trouble this time and then keep you out of trouble. As you've discovered, these vehicle are VERY sensitive to battery charge and condition.
