My third Jaguar. This car is not very common in my area, so its fun for me, especially the 5.0 its worth every penny to step up.

I drive it hard and may be the reason its leaking coolant. The light started to come on indicating low levels, so today I added coolant and water started to leak from the front of the engine around the pulleys area.

Car is not starting after it ran for 10 mins, likely a self protecting mode or something, could have been driving down the road today so could have been worse.

Certainly hoping its a thermostat, or a hose or nothing to serious. Its always scary to see fluid leaking out near the motor.

-The nearest dealer is a $250 tow, and the dealer is not the best one being its the only one and have you on lock.

Any help or ideas would be great, hoping to find a local mechanic to help out.

Welcome to the forum Deputycat.

Coolant loss is not something to take lightly with our cars, full-alloy engines do not like to be overheated. It could be that the ECU is preventing the car from starting as a protective measure, but I don't know that for sure.

If that is the case then the only option is to get the car to a dealer or a workshop that has dealer level diagnostics (called IDS or SDD).

Have a look in the XF subforum, there may be others who've had the same problem.

Good luck with it.

Thank you...happy to be here. Yeah, its a water pump, and cant find any around other then the "dealer only" deal. $307 plus $10 hose. Plenty of 4.2 L pumps out there...for about $100. Anyway, could have been worse... hope I dont have any other issues, like sensors, etc.

Good to hear you've found the cause of the coolant loss. The alloy Jaguar engines can easily be wrecked by overheating.
