Welcome to the forum metal goddess,

Congratulations on the XJ8. Your issue with the broken bleed tube is not serious or difficult to repair BUT be very careful not to allow the V8 to overheat. These engines can be wrecked very quickly by overheating.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section for help, advice and information.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region section by following this link Western US - AK CA NV OR UT HI WA ID - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome, Those tubes get brittle with age and tend to snap off if you even THINK about disconnecting them or working around them. Fortunately, they are not very expensive from the Jaguar dealer. The one that goes to the recovery tank is difficult only because of the way it is routed. Depending where it is broke, you may be able to patch it with a short piece of hose (I don't think needs to hold hardly any pressure at all), but the one that goes to the radiator and the one that goes to the engine should just be replaced. I recommend doing that now at your convenience, otherwise you'll someday be quite inconvenienced when they snap too, BTDT.

This hose can be found on ebay or Parts Geek for about $45.00, I repaired mine by drilling out the broken piece and using a collet as a sleeve. super glued and epoxy glued. It is drying now, need about 24 hours for the epoxy to cure.
