Default New to the forum... 2017 XF owner

Hello to all. I have a 2017 XF, bought new, with the intention of running it until it dies. Currently has c.67K miles. I've been reading the forum on and off since the car was new.

This is my second "Jaguar". The first was an absolutely gorgeous 1975 Daimler 4.2 coupé... the 2 door XJ. I was part way through a light body restoration when I left the UK to come to the states. My nephew took it to a destruction derby. Fecking Philistine! Still makes me cringe when I think of it.

I do most work on my cars and bikes. I'm no experienced mechanic, but have rebuilt simple engines (think 4 cylinder push rod), gearboxes, and the usual brakes, suspension, etc. Everything but a diff.

Which brings me to my first (apart from this intro) post, which I will make on the appropriate forum. My first major issue with the XF. Damn...

Other auto related background. I am a fan of classics, having owned a few old cars... Ford Cortina 1600E, 1600 Capri into which I dropped an RS2000 engine, Mazda RX7 Gen 1, but with a 13A transplant, 65 Corvair Monza, the aforementioned Daimler, various cheap old runabouts, and a 1979 MG Midget, which I have owned for c. 20 years. It was my bad weather vehicle for many of those years on days when it was impossible to ride a motorbike.

Bikes... Currently from a Vespa 150 to an Aprilia RSV4 Factory and a few in-between. More fun then a barrel of monkeys.

i'll post about my diff problem later.

Jim M.

Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome messages. Yes, my nephew is definitely not in my will, despite having become a rabid old Ford enthusiast. He builds and races his own cars now, thankfully!
