New to forum
Hello all! I have just joined this forum and am hoping to learn more about Jaguar's. I am considering buying a 2013 XJL with 50k miles from a Jaguar dealership. They took it in on trade from someone who always trades up for another Jaguar, so that was nice to hear. It is a beautiful car, rides great, but there is one thing I'm wondering if I should worry about....when shutting the car off, there is an couple chug-like noises. The dealership said they had 2 of their mechanics look at it and they find nothing wrong with it. I asked if they would provide a warranty, without me paying that additional charge, but because of the age they dont do that.
Should I be concerned?

Hello,
My rule of thumb when buying a used car of Any brand from Anyone, even a "reputable" dealer:
If the car has a noticeable problem that someone has "tried to fix and found nothing wrong," unless I *KNOW* what's wrong and I'm pretty sure I can make it right without too much trouble, I give it a pass. I've been burned Enough times.
Others in the correct section (someone will be along shortly to direct you there) may have more appropriate advice, like what exactly is wrong with the car, but in your shoes I wouldn't buy it no matter how nice it looks.
But that's just me.

Yes, walk. I had found a 2012 XF with 18K miles the indigo blue color that I really liked at a Ford dealer a couple hundred miles away. During the test drive, the check engine light came on. The salesman of course said, don't worry, whatever it is, we'll fix it. Then the sales manager came out and started giving me the hard sell. I told them both "You don't seem to understand. Its just a bad omen when the check engine light comes on during the test drive." I'm imagining the previous owner may have already made multiple attempts to fix some elusive electrical problem, reset the computer and traded it in before the light came back on. Took a few months before another low-miler came up, in a different color I didn't like as well but I've had no unusual issues with it. Best to wait for one with no obvious problems.
