Thumbs up New Guy from Tacoma

Good evening, all - I'm not yet a Jag owner, but am in the market for a 2005-2008 S-Type, preferably 4.2L. I've got a dealer friend helping me and hope to get things rolling soon.

I'd like to have a nav system, but, having read some of the threads, understand that the factory nav is pretty dated. I'm looking into options like Garmin, TomTom, etc.

If any of you are in the Tacoma area, I'd love to hear from you.

Regards - Doug

Doug, welcome to the forums. I think you will find a lot of good information here. I wish you luck on finding a car. May want to give http://www.texascarsdirect.com a look over and see if anything there strikes your fancy. Their prices are normally very good, but the downside is you have to go to Dallas to pick up the car. But, may make for good long weekend and some time with the new kitty for the drive back.

I'm sure you will have lots of fun on I-5 doing those runs between Tacoma and Seattle. I used to live in Bremerton and have driven I-5 more times than I care to admit to. My T-Bird used to fly low. You may want to also open your looking a little bit and check out the XJ's too. Not the same styling, but you will be able to get an XJ for near what you can an S-Type and you will get a nicer car. But, get what you are going to like.

Default Texascarsdirect

Hi, Thermo - Thanks for the quick response and the info on Texascarsdirect. It's dinnertime here, so I'll only post a quick reply now. I mentioned that I'm working throught an old friend (Lincoln salesman) who is going to help sort out all of the details for me. I don't think a Texas trip would be too hard for him to sort out. He's got one he wants me to look at in Daytona Beach!

I'm going to jump on the nav forum and talk some more about possibilities to install my own aftermarket unit.

Thanks for the warm welcomd

Thanks to you all for the welcome. A special thanks to Jim64 for giving me access. I really appreciate it. I didn't get the Florida 4.2L, but my salesman has three more for me to look at. I'm hoping for some good news this week. I'm enjoying surfing through some of the threads. It's great to learn what other enthusiasts experiences have been, to keep from making the same mistakes.
