Default New here and to Jags

After really wanting an XJ since they first hit our market in the 70's I finally have a pair. One to drive and restore and one for parts. Haven't decided which is which yet. The dark blue has good seats but someone has made a mess of the electrics and rust has eaten the sill on the passenger's side. The white one has a damaged front wing and bumper and no seats but the dask is good the engine was rebuilt just before the accident. Seems rust free and the suspension rubbers seem good. Big decisions to make.

Thanks for the welcome. I'll pst photos as soon as I am allowed. The dark blue is my daily driver at the moment. I went to revisit the white one tis afternoon. Despite needing a good cut and polish, the seats refitted - they are a mid green velour (classy) and the carbs refitted it seems a general recommissioning and a new front bumper and drivers front guard will see it back on the road. The blue one will then be retired. not certain of its fate at the moment. The passengers side sill is really in need of replacing from the guard to the C pillar. There have been some interesting additions to the wiring over the years. This weekend's tasks are to get all the electric windows working and the heater to stop working - its summer here. The white one will wait until I take my 28 years worth of long service leave in April. 6 months to get it perfect.

A young woman was bored with driving her BMW. It lacked individuality and besides that, every other girl in the office had one. She fancied something a bit more individual, perhaps an MG convertible.
That week she visited her local car dealer and spied a beautiful Jaguar XK140 convertible. It was wonderfully restored and she fell in love with its gorgeous red paint work.
An empty check stub later, she was tearing down the leafy country lanes enjoying her beautiful new car. Her long hair was flowing in the wind, music blaring from the radio, what could possibly go wrong?
At that thought, there was a splutter from the engine and the car slowly coasted to a stop. She got out and lifted the bonnet and concluded after a few minutes that she didn’t have a bloody clue what was wrong. Luckily, she had her mobile phone with her and a quick phone call to the AutoClub and a short wait saw a bright shiny yellow van pull up behind her.
“That’s a lovely car,” said the mechanic. “What seems to be the matter?”
She replied, “Well, it just conked out I’m afraid.”
“Let me have look.” He set to work and ten minutes later the engine was purring like a cat again.
“Thank goodness,” she said. “What was the matter?”
“Simple really, just crap in the carburetor,” he replied.
“Oh, dear. How many times a week do I have to do that?”

That was my conclusion. Didn't stop me fixing the electric windows today - the front passengers still needs to be re-seated in its track atop the lifting mechanism. The central locking now works on the back doors. The erratic speedo and the jammed heater are tomorrow's jobs. I have to keep up as I am still a month and half away from having long service leave and the time and space to do the swapping needed.
