Default New Jag XK8 going for the LSx swap

Hi everybody, I'm Greg. And I'm an addict. For cars.

So my dad picked up a nice 2000 XK8 a couple years ago, and has been loving it. Its British racing green, tan interior, super clean. He's been doing some mild maintenance on the car, had a leak in the hydraulics for the top. Got it all nicely maintained and had his transmission go out. In helping him look for a replacement trans, I stumbled into a low priced '99 with some coolant leak. Engine ran, transmission worked, just wouldn't hold coolant. So we picked it up for his replacement transmission, found the coolant was leaking at a 'y' pipe near a split for the heater lines, but the engine was in good shape. But instead of finding another trans, we decided to try the Jaguar Specialties swap. And what the heck, we jumped in with both feet to go for the manual transmission swap too. Andrew at Jag Spec's has been great to work with. We're finally getting into the meat of the swap after getting the engine bay all cleaned up from a 100k miles of dirt. I'll be posting a build thread once we get a little further. We're going with a L76 from a Pontiac G8, so its an all aluminum 6.0L. Swapping to a manual transmission too. Starting with the stock engine, but once its running we'll look at a cam swap, as the L76's have the LS3 heads. Should be fun. Goal is to have the car run the Hotrod Power Tour this year. So we're also looking into interior upgrades with the radio and what to do here. After the tour we'll be looking more closely at the suspension and brakes for upgrades to take this car out to the track for some road racing track days. Included in that will be a roll bar installation as well.

Welcome to the forum Greg,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.
