My name is marty and i have a 2003 xj8 vp with 88,000 miles. the engine light came on and i had a local garage turn the light off for me. the problem of why the light came on was code p0460 fuel level sensor. although the engine light is off it still wont past the state inspection as the p0460 code still shows up on the state computer. other than having the jag dealer replace the fuel level sensor for $2,400 (90 percent labor) is there anyone out there who has experienced this issue and may have another solution? i'm desperate and don't have $2,400. many thanks!

I see you've posted this question in X351 tech section.

2003 was a model changeover year for the XJ8. Do you have the earlier steel bodied (X308) or later aluminium bodied (X351) model?
