I chose Pitcrew as my member name...'cause in my family (I married a car lover and gave birth to an auto fanatic!). Sometimes I'd be allowed to run and get a tool, but over the years I've become pretty good at bringing the right one back!

I'm an official Pitcrew member in my family these days and it feels great. We were a Saab family for several decades (though at 17 I bought a keychain that said JAG KEYS). It took twelve years before I hung my first set of keys on that keychain.

Madame was an XJ6L...stunning! Goulden mustard gold, did 120 upon request, almost lost her to impounding, the pursuing officer was so angry it took him so long to catch me (8 points!)...it was so late, no judges were up!!!! Whew! Thank goodness. A '76, by the way.

The Baroness, an '86 which I still own, I purchased while learning how to use eBay(?)! Went to sleep and woke up a Jag owner! Who knew!

However, I joined the forum looking for answers to my Kermit's set of new problems. He's a 2004 XType (Hunter Green...Kermit?). Anyway, battery light on after alternator change. Still on after changing both left and right battery cables(?). My boys were about to kick me off the Pitcrew.

He's settled down a little.

Gets blow out on the regular...I'm in NE corridor hacking these horrible roads between Jersey and Manhattan, daily. I'm an opera singer at the Met. What other kind of "creative lady" would become an automotive Anglophile.

The Forum has already been extremely helpful with some of Kermy's issues.

I'm glad to have found you guys!

Welcome to Jaguar.

Nice gathering of Cats there.

Not sure on the X Type, but we had a guy here in our group with a rebuilt alternator on his XKR, and being Hitachi, not rocket science for any competent Auto Electrician, BUT, the regulator pack they used was a Toyota/Hitachi unit, and apparently a direct fit by part number cross referencing, and the charge light stayed ON. Some 7 regulators later, NO change, so he simply fitted his old regulator pack, sweet as.

No answer has ever been forthcoming, but I suspect there is a compatability issues.

Wow, you guys! Thanks loads for the warm welcome. Though surprised, I find it understandable as lwith anyone who appreciates the classicism and as LnrB put it, their racing history would also find a shared enthusiasm. What machines they are!!!!!!
