Hello All,
Purchased XK8 about two months ago (2001 about 70K miles). Black exterior/black interior completely breaking my pledge of 20 years to never have a black car again (Porsche before). I will say it would be difficult to make me part with this car now, even though I now spend the vast majority of my free time washing it when I'm not driving it. Before I've posted, this forum has been critical in helping me fix the little problems I inherited. Among other things, I have used the instructions here to
- Saw into/solder/fix the ABS module
- Clean/fix transmission/ECM CANbus error (everything inside the ECM/TCM/fuse box was covered with dirt and the little computer fan wasn't working. Now it is, no problems).
- Fix the headrest issue on both seats
- Fix all of the washers (window, headlight), then...
- ...subsequently disable the headlight washers because who needs that?
- Fix the condensation issues in the headlights with the drill and vent tube method
- Bleed the brakes
- Fix the cigar lighter (had no manuals, downloaded from forums, a number of other small fixes from those)
- Fix the power steering pump
- Treat/seal the convertible roof
Also confirmed that the secondary pretensioners are up to date. So, this site has already been incredibly valuable for me.
A picture is attached, and look forward to my continued adventures with this car and this forum.

Welcome to the forums Dale,
Good to have you with us.
I know you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...r-atlantic-66/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
