Exclamation New member!

Hi everyone! I’m new on the Jaguarforum and I look forward to meet many of you with precious experience of how to maintain and repair my car. I’m living and working in Washington DC and I’m driving an XK8 Convertible from 2001 with 90.500 miles. I had a general revision done last November at Jaguar Bethesda, paid a lot of money and, when I drove home, found out that the electric command of my backrest was no longer working. I drove back to the garage, they took a quick look and told me that this is an el. issue and that probably a module has to be replaced for $850 + work. This el. seat command was working perfectly fine in the morning and now all of a sudden an el.issue! Does any one have experience in this kind of problem? How to repair it, respectfully where to get such a module, maybe a used one?

Then, some weeks ago, the battery was empty because a door was not well closed for 3 days when the car was parked in my garage! I reloaded the battery without problem, BUT the radio didn’t work anymore. It doesn’t go on, the display stays dark and the antenna doesn’t come out. Again, I quickly went to Jaguar Bethesda where they checked the fuses, said that all fuses are OK and that the radio should be replaced for $1.850. I thanked them and left not trusting any longer in what they say.Did such a radio problem ever occurred to anyone of you? Any suggestions? Maybe a second check of the fuses?

Finally, if anyone could recommend a small garage with Jaguar experience in the DC, MD, VA area, that would be great!
Many thanks!

Welcome to the Forums.

OUCH

Look in the XK8 (X100) Tech Section, and there will be heaps of advice and fixes for those issues.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum Buddy1,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The best way to fix Jaguars is with logical troubleshooting and NOT throwing parts at them. Seat adjustment issues are a regular on this model and you will find plenty of threads about this in XK8/XKR forum. If you do not use the vehicle regularly, I recommend a battery tender (CTEK is the preferred brand with members) to avoid battery discharge issues. With the radio, the ON/OFF function is PUSH, volume control is ROTATE. Several members have found this fixes an apparently dead radio!

Follow this link
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.
