Hello my name is Gary. I have always liked jaguars and have had several. My daily driver when I was in law school was in 1970 XKE V6! I've had several xj's The sovereign and the vanden plas. And this week I bought a 2005 S-Type 4.2 and 2006 XK8 4.2 carbon fiber edition. I'm not sure on the XK8 it's rough cosmetically and has glitches. I purchased it from a dealer in Florida and can't tell if it's a keeper LOL. It doesn't seem to have been very well maintained that is my main caveat and I bought this over a 2000 XK8 that had better maintenance and was more polished thinking that the 4.2 limited edition was worth the money! I am semi-retired and wanted to learn how to work on these!! I managed to change the air filters in the cabin filters LOL
I have read many forum threads while I have a I started looking in July it is now November. This forum has been extremely educational and everybody is unbelievably helpful and generous with their time and knowledge. I look forward to being able to learn from all of you.

Welcome to the forums Gary,
Good to have you with us.
The limited editions are rarely worth more money but the later 4.2's were more developed than the early 4.0 versions. I've previously owned both a 2001 and a 2005 Final Series XK8 Coupe and on balance preferred the later vehicle.
If you haven't found them already, follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum and this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' threads at the top of each are a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.

Hello, Gary,
I did not know that E-type ever came with V-6!
Congratulations on your Latest Jaguars!
I admit I'm partial to the XK8s rather than the S-types. I hope you get your neglected example in passable and Derivable condition so you can enjoy it rather than just work on it.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
