Hello from TX, I'm Jim and have a 1999 XJR. Bought it new and now has 94,000 miles on it. Own a few nice cars but this is my all time favorite. Style, handling, speed- has it all. As it's aging it needs tinkering now and then. Many in my area won't work on an old Jag, most won't work on any Jag.. I, done most things myself over the years but it's harder now at 76. Hope I can find "how to do it on this forum" Looking forward to joining, Jim OB

Hello, Jim,
Yes, dealerships especially don't want to work on any car over about 3-5 years old. But that's why these forums exist, to help owners of Classics like our keep them on the road and Puuuurrrring.
Someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where you can find help and advice, or just hang out with other XJR owners.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Jim,
Good to have you with us. There can't be many XJR's still with the original owner after twenty four years.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.

Welcome neighbor. That's pretty impressive to be the original owner going on 25 years. At car shows, its always fun to talk to original owners because they have stories to tell, incidents that happened while on a vacation trip, a wedding car, babies brought home from the hospital in it, etc. I mostly buy used cars. I can talk about how I restored a classic car or how I found it, but those stories don't seem to have universal appeal like original owner stories. I'm probably going to buy a new car this year but I'll probably be in nursing home by the time its a classic and old enough for car shows. I've got a truck I bought new in 2007. Looking forward to taking it to a show when its old enough to be a classic. No babies brought home from the hospital but its brought home some projects and parts cars. ;-)
