Default New member with 2nd Jaguar on the way

Hi all

I finally had my first Jaguar about 4 years ago, for my work, so bought an XF Sportbrake 3.0 D(2014), what a stunning car, following on from Vectra estates, Chrysler 300C Estate, then to the XF..Bliss..
Enonomical, refined and quiet! Apart from needing cam belt Argh. and dead Aircon (again) now its great (94,000-) its great..
So what did I do, I own a Green early MGF which is fun, but no family room..
"She who must be obeyed" spied a nice, Photo of an old XK8.Covertible and yes in Green.. So yes deposit handed over and to be collected after new MOT is gained, some time after 1st August.. I must be slightyly mad..We shall see..

Its pitfall amd horrors to follow.

When not playing with cars, I design and build Valve amplifiers for the HiFi world of Music enjoyment!!.

Thank you so much for the links and kind advice..
I shall be reading up about timing chain tensioners and Nickasil(spelling)
Full Jaguar service History, up to 100,000 miles and lots of money spent since!

Mark,

Even if it's in the Nikasil engine range, one that's lasted this long is very unlikely to start showing excess bore wear problems. Tensioners are a different matter because the early plastic ones can fail at any time with disastrous consequences. Full history to 100K miles - most owners would have had the tensioners replaced but unless there's absolute proof then check them.

Hello, Mark,
Why am I not surprised that your first Jaguar was Only the First!!?
Maybe because, Once you get a taste of a Class Car, you simply can't get enough! However, I would lean more toward your wife's Xk8, as I decided a long time ago that one of those would be my Next Jaguar.

Welcome to the forums from ElinrB.

Thank you Graham,
Yes, it either had a new engine, not noted on logbook, or just worked as intended!
About the first thing I will do, when I get it home is to check the tensioners..slightest doubt and it will all be changed!
That and change the gearbox oil etc.
I am also going to ask the dealership if they will send me the details of what was done over itys life.. I can but hope!

Hi again all out there..is there a group of XK8 enthusiasts 1. based in UK and maybe 2. Regional in UK .

I am trying to locate this on the forum and failing miserably!

I love to read and chat with all XK8 owners, but UK based specifically will help for locating parts advice etc.

Thanks all

Mark
