Hi,
I am from Australia.
I have a 1989 Sovereign which I imported from the UK.
I am now in the process of restoring it.
I have struck a problem and need help.
I have removed the headliner, due to sagging, and now have to remove the sunroof.
I have removed the 4 screws holding the outside panel on but cannot pull the panel forward to remove it.
Does anyone have any clues for me.
Regards,
John.

Welcome to the forum JJ
glad to have you with us. Hopefully you get some help from the knowledgable guys in the XJ section to help resolve your problem. I'm assuming you've seen the how to FAQ'd re replacing a saggy headliner?
Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply.
I need a bit more help.
I do not seem to be able to access the FAQ section.
When I click on FAQ I get the search function and when I put in " replacing a saggy headliner " I do not get anything.
What am I doing wrong ?
Regards,
John.

Hi, not sure why you did not get the FAQ. It normally works even when not logged in (just tried it)
This will be the thread that Jim reffered to :- How to replace a headliner...
Also as you will have seen there is an ongoing thread about sunroof replacement over in the XJ6 section with some great info from bbarcher.
Hope this helps, for now.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the help.
I have removed the sunroof.
Came out a little differently than the info from the JDC.
First I opened the sunroof as per instructions and then removed the 4 screws on the front flange of the outside part of the sunroof.
Then the instructions said " pull forwards and lift out "
NO GO. Something holding it in still.
Finally got the wife to close the sunroof as I held onto the outer part and lo and behold, it lifted out ok.
Next step is to remove a metal hold down peice from the front of the lower section of the sunroof and then just lift out the lower section.
DO NOT remove any of the arms as advised in the instructions.
I have now taken the headliner and sunroof to my local motor trimmer who has quoted Aus$140 to re cover them.
It has been a good three or four days of a steep learing curve but I am enjoying it so far.
Thanks for the help and will keep in touch, will try and put some photos up too.
