Default New member that always wanted a Jaguar, but ended up with German cars

I always wanted a Jaguar since I can remember, but never got one as its reliability reputation made it unsuitable (in my thinking) for a daily drive. Ended up with two German cars for my daily drives (I commute between two cities), but think it is time to take the plunge now and add a Jag.

I can't afford an eType, so torn between a XJS or a pre 2007 XK or XKR.

I am looking for something that I can drive 3 to 4 days a week, it will sometime stand for up to a month at a times when I travel. I am good at looking after cars in terms of preventative maintenance (I own a 928) and don't mind spending time to understand what needs to be done to make them reliable.

I will probably keep it for life (mine or the cars).

Always liked cabriolets, but a coupe probable would be a better choice in Johannesburg.

Have started to process to explore and choose a car, input and advice will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum 2bealive,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

(I've closed your poll as it's inappropriate here and previous experience shows it's unlikely to get a sensible response)

I can't think of a single member who runs either and E-Type or an XJS as a daily driver (and 3 to 4 days a week is approaching that) but several do run XK8/XKR's and are putting on some impressive mileages. When standing for weeks or months, a battery tender is essential to avoid electrical issues.

Follow this link E type ( XK-E ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the E-Type forum, this one XJS ( X27 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJS forum and this one XK8 / XKR ( X100 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

You can also visit the Other Areas Region forum by following this link Other Areas - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your part of the World.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome.

ALL my Jags have been daily drivers, and there have been MANY in that fleet.

The XJ-S did most of the DD tasks, followed very closely by the S2 XJ12.

Personally, I like the classic Xj6 series, which everyone who sees one knows Instantly and Instinctively, That's a Jaguar!
