Default New Member collecting this week any tips on things to look out for?

Hi All,

New member to the forum and i am off to collect a 2012 Jaguar XKR 5.0 later this week, this is my first Jaguar and i have spent the last couple of nights reading reviews and searching for common issues to look for when collecting. Now i am not a mechanic but i have built a kit car and always looked after my own cars so i am confident i can check over the general condition of the car but if anyone has any advice on common issues and noteworthy things to check it would be greatly appreciated.

Excited is an understatement in anticipation of collecting the car

Regards,
Andy

Welcome to the forums Andy,

1. the most common forum question from new owners is "where do I get another remote?". Make sure there's 2 Smartkeys and they both work.

2. spend 20 minutes in the car with the Owner's Handbook making sure every switch works. Apparently minor electrical faults can be expensive to fix.

3. Service History - every 15K Miles OR 12 Months - whichever comes first. Gaps are very suspicious.

It sounds like you've already found your way to the XK/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thanks Graham, I have been assured there are 2 keys and a full Jaguar service history. I will get make sure to check over all the electrical systems as you have pointed out!
