Just here to give my intro! About 4 years ago I purchased a 2005 Jag X type after my mustang was totaled. I wasn't in the right state of mind when I bought it and regret it daily. I got a bad deal and wanted to cancel before I picked it up but they wouldn't let me. Less than a year after buying it I moved to a city and don't need it or want it. I'm upside down on my loan (I owe just under $4000) and would love for someone to steal it but nobody has. There were two occassions when I hoped it would be totaled (hit a deer, hit a pothole) and it wasn't. This car haunts me and makes me sad.

Currently it needs the following repairs.

The Check Engine Light is on due to a vacuum leak and thecorrection is to replace the intake manifold gaskets, seals and brass fittings= $899.05

The Battery concern is due to both battery cables notconducting current efficiently = $533.67

Your left front tire is below minimum specification =$263.65.

Your front brake pads and brake rotors are at minimum =$651.94

Finally, your front stabilizer bushings are worn and thetechnician suggests replacement = $688.85

So that's my story!

Welcome to the forum mickjaguar,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Outstanding loan = $4000 ; repairs = $3037.16 - I can see why you're sad!

I know you've already found your way to the X-Type tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the USA Mid Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/usa-mid-atlantic-md-va-dc-de-wv-65/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome.

Mistakes happen, that is life, but eventually we move on.

I had some bummers along my Jag journey, and am still with the Marque, and have no intentions of jumping ship.

A lot of those tasks can be DIY, if you are so inclined, and that would cut that bill by at least 50%. Aftermarket parts for some of that list would cut it even further.

Kim,

Signatures appear with the next post - not immediately. This catches out a lot of members!

No picture. The usual reason for this is exceeding the size limits. The maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 100 pixels or 9.8 KB (whichever is smaller).

Welcome Kim. As Grant pointed out, doing the work yourself and using aftermarket parts can significantly reduce your cost -given your ability to, of course- And as an added plus give you a sense of victory and control over the situation. I hope your experience improves.

The curse continues. I got a $45 parking ticket today in front of my apartment. I have to move to the opposite side of the street at 12:30 for street cleaning. At 12:39 I yelled oh no then ran out my door. Parking enforcement was already in front of my car ticketing me. I yelled "ma'am I can move the car I forgot" then she slammed the ticket down on my windshield and took a picture. I moved my car a block over and by the time I got back there was a tow truck towing the unfortunate car that was in front of me that was also ticketed. I am glad that it wasn't me but I feel bad for the other driver.
