New Member in Houston
Hi, I'm Pete from Houston, TX. A new member with a 2000 XKR convertible. Just got it last month and already looking at changing shocks and springs as the car sits too low at the front, and with 20" rims it's a little aggressive on the fender edges. It's a little soggy and bounces on the inner arches at moderate speed. I need to find out if it was fitted with CATS shocks before I order more. Can I find this out from the VIN #? Also if anybody out there knows the best way to remove bird poop from the convertible top, I'd appreciate the advice. Love the car (KITTY!) and love the info I can get from the forum.
Open the hood and look at the top of the shocks. If theres a wire coming from the top it has cats. If not conventional. Be forwarned if cats shocks theyre expensive and you can replace all 4 with non cats for the price of 2 cats. And you done need springs in front but probobly just shocks and the upper spring mount which collapses and drops ride height a inch or more. Where are you in houston?

Hello, Pete,
As your car is 14 years old I suppose it's not surprising it needs new shocks.
Soon you and your car will be bonded if you're not already.
Welcome from ElinorB.

thanks brutal, it does have cats shocks, and right again, the upper spring mounts have perished and have a load of orange rubber granules under the upper mount cap. I'll be looking at getting the right shocks now. I'm in champions & fm1960 area, nw houston. New spring mounts should lift the front of the car along with the new shocks.
