New member on the hunt for a new to me XF
Hello everyone. I am a frequent user of the Saab boards and am a Saab Fanatic ( I know pity me) I had been buying the brand for 30 years and have quite a stable 1987 C900 ( 265K miles) 2000 9-5 (145K miles) uprated to 345 HP/ 365 Tq, 2003 Hirsch 9-5 "clone" ( one of only 2 in the US 309 Hp) and a 2000 Lightning Blue Viggen Convertible ( 80K miles) one of only 40 of that color in the states. Of course my family and friends drive many of them, but alas Saab is no more and I was smart enough not to buy a new gen 9-5 (perfectly lovely cars BTW) even when they were discounted to half price ( 28 K for a 56K car woohee) because of my fear of lack of support from the manufacturer. And I was right many who got those deals now have a gorgeous planter stuck in their driveways.. oh well on about Jaguar..
I have owned jags for a while, my first was a 78 XJS that I picked up for a song needing a transmission that got traded for a new Vette. The dealer threw it at me for nothing saying they could not fix it and I turned around and laughed when I dropped a TH 350 in it and all was good... till the gas crisis arose ..
then I bought Triumph cars, Spitfire, Stag, TR6 ( two of them) I still have a 72 in concours shape. I had my last Jag in 2001-2003, XJ8 convertible that looked great driven by my late gorgeous thin leggy wife...but was too slow for me
So now I am in the hunt for a great deal on a 2009-2010 supercharged XF and came here to find out what to avoid, mechanical faults to watch out for and whatnot, and am hoping to find the kind of intelligent discussion and helpful assistance I have encountered on the Saab boards for the last 10 years

Found a couple XFRs having them checked out now
One is 2010 XFR Black with the Brown and black seats and B&W stereo. Its beautiful but it has the dash issue and was invovled in an accident ( no airbag deployment minor front end damage and the dealer says no issues from the repair) Needs tires as well 51K miles ( I will be buying an aftermarket warranty ( after cruising this site some) $37 K
Second is also Black but black interior, no B&W radio. Has a bit more seat wear but having had old leather seats in cars I can fix that no worries.
2010 51k Miles as well $35,500. Going to have is checked by the dealer tomorrow.
I will do most mainetance and repairs myself ( old car wrencher here ) and am buying the United Car Care 3rd party warranty ( they are A+ BBB rated not cheap tho) I will keep the car till I run it into the ground, or it dyes while I try. ( 150K miles hoefully) If the guy with the car that had the accident will move at all I may go that route, but realize there will be no turning back since selling a car that has ANY accident history is hit or miss...lol

Found it!!!
Well boy am I a patient man. A few things got in the way, like quiting my job, starting a new company, moving and life in general but I believe my wait has paid off big.
I found a MIN MINT MINT 2011 XFR, lease return at a dealership in St Petersburg FL, ( southern car YES!) with 45K miles CERTIFIED!!! for 37,000...
Less than trade-in around here. He had the car for over 2 months with no bites and when I called it was actually at the auction. He brough it back, knocked 1 K off and I said sold ( sight unseen)
It has the dash board issue ( don;t they all) which I will take in under the certified warranty
It has EVERYTHING, and I still can't operate it all correctly but I am studying the manual, and will get it all set soon.
I will make a new post with pics soon...
Thanks to the Jaguar forum and all its useful and friendly folks....
