New Member from Illinois
New Member From Illinois here. I have aquired my late father in law's 1989 XJ6. I don't know too much history about the car but it is very clean for a midwest car and he did have it stored i his outbuilding since 2004. He and I got it running back in October hoping to sell it for a decent amount before he sold his house. Well, he passed 3 weeks before closing on their house and I hadn't had any bites on the sale and I brought the asking price down to $2000. I just can't let it go for that, at least not yet. I have only driven it a block twice. I changed the oil and the spark plugs and we filled the hydraulic system up before moving it. I am going to park it under a carport covered for now and will clean it up and go over it some more in a couple of months. It's only been a month since my father in law passed so it's not easy yet. I am a German car guy and have owned a 1998 New Beetle that I have changed the timing belt and water pump on and have done all other maintenance on it as well so I am looking forward to tackling some of the issues ahead of me with the XJ. I know I'll need to change the shocks and brakes and get brand new rubber prior to any real driving in it.

Thank you for the welcome and the links Graham. I am a current owner of 2017 Jetta 5 speed and am a member of the VW Vortex and was a really active member of the New Beetle forum. I hope to clean the XJ up and drive it some during the summer months. I'm trying to upload pictures but my work computer and google photos aren't cooperating.
